We kicked off our dining experience with olives and bread, a classic starter that set a promising tone. Moving on to the Scampi Diavola, we were enticed by the delicious sauce that paired heavenly with our bread. However, we were slightly disappointed with the overcooked and rubbery texture of the scampi. On a brighter note, the halibut tartar, a daily special, showcased the freshest halibut alongside a refreshing combination of avocado cream, shiitake, radish, crackers, and watercress. This well-balanced dish was perfect for enjoying an outdoor meal on a summer evening. As for the Arctic Char, it delighted our palates with its impeccably cooked fish, harmoniously complemented by a variety of asparagus, potatoes, a luscious browned butter sauce, and fish roe. Fiskbar17 remains one of our favorite destinations for high-quality fish and seafood in Gothenburg, despite the minor setback with the scampi.

Upon entering the restaurant, we were immediately enchanted by its classy and authentic Swedish ambiance. Opting for a lunch break, we started with the Toast Skagen as a starter, and it turned out to be a delightful choice. The creamy texture of the Skagen perfectly complemented the tangy red onion and zesty lemon. The only minor letdown was that the toast could have been a touch more greased for added indulgence. Moving on to the classic Köttbullar, we were not only impressed by its visually appealing presentation but also blown away by the taste. The veal meatballs were exceptionally tender, while the sauce offered a unique twist that set it apart from any other brown sauce we’ve encountered. The final touch of fresh lingonberries added a pleasantly sour note to each perfect bite. All in all, this restaurant is a must-visit for those seeking the ultimate rendition of classic Swedish staples.

Our dining experience at the restaurant was truly delightful, indulging in a magnificent 7-course menu that left us utterly satisfied. The waitresses were friendly and attentive throughout the entire evening, enhancing our enjoyment. Before the course menu commenced, we were treated to a trio of tantalizing amuse-bouches: an invigorating asparagus and lovage juice, asparagus with dried tomato crumble and potato emulsion, and oysters with Portlak. Each small plate was not only delicious but also visually stunning. A homemade sourdough bread accompanied by churned butter further elevated our culinary journey. The only minor disappointment was that we were not offered any drinks, apart from water, until the next course. Our first dish featured a fresh mackerel with lemon verbena and cucumber, accompanied by the start of our carefully curated wine menu. A delectable tostada with lumpfish roe, sorrel, and horseradish followed suit. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the fried langoustine with green tomato and coriander seeds, which captured our palates with its exquisite flavors. A vegetarian delight arrived next, featuring white asparagus, chervil, a butter sauce, and delicate shaved raw champignons. Ling with ramson and a Miso foam continued to impress. A refreshing pre-dessert of grated apple with walnut emulsion and marjoram provided a delightful palate cleanser. Opting for the additional cheese plate, we savored a Swedish cheese accompanied by a flavorful moonseed cracker. The grand finale arrived in the form of a frozen goat’s curd with raspberry and dulce, a perfectly balanced dessert that left us craving for more. The meal concluded with a homemade blackcurrant toffee, adding a sweet and satisfying ending to an exceptional dining experience.
